YOUR FAQ'S ABOUT BATH BOMB

In this blog post, we would like to whang the answers for some questions about bath bombs, so you can better understand why adding a bath bomb to your bathing experience is always a great idea and why we think our bath bombs are da bomb!

WHAT IS A BATH BOMB?

Bath bombs are fun, colorful balls of dry ingredients, palm-sized spheres or blocks that fizzle and dissolve rapidly and release essential oils when tossed into your bathwater. It is indeed a fun way to bring more excitement to your bath.

WHAT MAKES THEM FIZZ AND DISSOLVE?

The reaction between baking soda and citric acid is responsible for the fizzing action. When the bomb touches water, the sodium bicarbonate in it reacts with the citric acid to release carbon dioxide gas. The bath bomb starts to break apart as this happens, releasing with it the pigments, essential oils, and skin-conditioning plant oils.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A BATH BOMB TO DISSOLVE?

Slow-release means the bomb won't immediately dissolve in the bath right away. Most of the good bath bombs take about 6-8 minutes in the hot water to completely dissolve allowing you to feel the carbonation while in the tub (it's like a free massage!)

DO BATH BOMB CLEAN YOU?

A bath bomb adds emollients and softeners to your bath's water that moisturize and indulge your skin. No matter what your skin type and how demanding your skin is, the beneficial ingredients in bath bombs leave it soft, supple, and silky. Yes, it'll cleanse your skin, but the ingredients inside will also pamper and soothe it.

DO YOUR BATH BOMBS STAIN THE TUB?

Baking soda itself does not leave a residue and is commonly used in cleaning. To make them more fun we've added colors, essential oils and organic plant oils that hydrate the skin wonderfully but can also cause the pigments and essential oil colors to cling to the tub wall. Colors will build up more with each use so it is best to wipe residue away each time to make cleaning easy. If not, regular cleaning products and a bit of scrubbing may be required.

DO BATH BOMBS IRRITATE YOUR SKIN?

Great bath bombs should not irritate your skin, but they should not be used with broken or irritated skin. It is important to note that reactions to scent blends and essential oils are possible, so make sure you know what works best for your skin.

HOW LONG CAN I KEEP A BATH BOMB BEFORE USING?

Store your bath bombs in an airtight container or a ziplock bag in a cool dark place. This helps to protect the bath bomb from moisture and keeps it from drying out or losing the scent. We always recommend using our products sooner rather than later. The longer you wait, the less effective the product will be unless it is stored well.

CAN YOU CUT BATH BOMB IN HALF TO USE IT TWICE?

You can try this, but from our experience, they may break and crumble. The pieces will then dissolve faster than a whole bath bomb. Most of the bath bombs are designed for single use. To get the full benefits we highly recommend using the entire bomb in your bath. If you choose to take it out of the water halfway through and keep it for later it might still fizz the next time you use it, but it won't be as effective.

IS EACH BATH BOMB SPECIFIC TO A NEED?

The best bath bomb for you might be the one that smells the best. Otherwise, here is what we had in mind when we created each bath bomb:

  • Milk and HoneyA milk and honey bath leaves your skin supple and soft. The protein and fat content in the milk enriches your bath water and helps exfoliate the skin. The lactic acid present in the milk cleans the dead cells and hydrates the skin, thereby preventing dryness.

WHAT MAKES BATH BOMBS DIFFERENT FROM BATH SALTS AND BUBBLE BATH?

Bath bombs are made with baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, which provides a naturally high alkaline substance with a reputation for helping to remove toxins. Baking soda's natural sodium content and alkalinity give the bathwater a silky feel and baking soda can help with a number of common health issues. The plant oils and baking soda soothes and adds moisture to the skin. Along with the pleasant scent and essential oils, bath bombs can also create an aromatherapy effect. While Bubble bath is made with soap for cleansing the surface of the skin to help loosen dirt and oil. They make bubbles for a short time and dissolve while softening the water. And Bath Salts are high in minerals and also work to help remove toxins, depending on what bath salts you are using. Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) soothe tired muscles by relieving the lactic acid build-up caused from muscle exertion and are therefore recommended for people with back pain, arthritis, muscle tension or spasms, and minor work and sports injuries.
